PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Public Hearing that was to be held on Tuesday, July 8th  at 10:00 a.m., concerning the Tappahannock-Essex County Airport Authority request to rezone 24 acres of the Airport Property from A-2 Agriculture to M-2 Light Industrial has been rescheduled for Tuesday, July, 15th at 7:00 p.m., at 109 Cross Street in the Essex County School Board Office and County Office Building.

The Board of Supervisor's Work Session that was to be held following the July 8th regular meeting has been cancelled.

Public Hearing - Essex County Planning Commission

On June 17, 2014 the Essex County Planning Commission will hold a Public Hearing at 7:30 p.m. in the Essex School Board Office and County Complex. The purpose of this meeting is to hear a Rezoning Request by the Tappahannock Essex County Airport Authority, to rezone 24 acres of the Airport Property from A-2 Agriculture to M-2 Light Industrial.  Also at this meeting the Planning Commission will review the updated Comprehensive Plan.  The public is invited to this meeting.  Should you wish to view the Rezoning Request, please contact Jeffrey Hodges, Zoning Administrator at 804-443-4951

VDOT and Essex County Six Year Plan

The Virginia Department of Transportation and the Board of Supervisors of Essex County held a joint Public Hearing on May 13, 2014, in regards to the proposed Secondary Six-Year Plan for Fiscal Years 2015 through 2020 in Essex County and on the Secondary System Construction Budget for Fiscal Year 2014/15. Are you 65 years of age or older or totally disabled before Jan 1st?
•Do you have annual income (total household) of $27,500 or less?
•Is your net worth less than $100,000 (excluding home & one acre)?
•Is the property located in Essex County your primary residence?

If you answered “yes” to all of the questions above, you may qualify for tax relief up to $750 on your primary residence real estate taxes. Forms are available in the office or at
